In 1985, the Tmt. Kannammal Educational Trust was established with the noble intention of fostering transformation and advancement through the power of education. It marked its inception by establishing the Thai Moogambigai Polytechnic College, and within three short years, in 1988, the institution went on to lay the foundation of Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College. The commitment to progress continued, and in 1991, the Thai Moogambigai Dental College came into existence.
The evolution of these educational ventures reached a significant milestone in 2003 when both colleges were granted the esteemed status of Deemed University. This prestigious recognition was bestowed upon them in accordance with the directives of the University Grants Commission in New Delhi and the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, also based in New Delhi.
As we stand on the threshold of the 21st century, it is undeniable that a new era presents a multitude of challenges that can be effectively met through the synergy of education and technology. Driven by this understanding, the Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute was conceived, envisioning a platform that equips today’s students with the tools they need to confront and overcome these challenges. In today’s world, academic prowess alone is insufficient; modern adults are expected to possess a blend of technical acumen and unwavering self-assurance.
